Athens, Greece

Open air cinema & Vouliagmeni lake experience

Got to make this one small article for you guys. So there were really nice things going on on our fourth day in Athens. I don't really have a lot of pictures prepared for you, but I can't skip on this post cause these two things that we did was so much fun and it was such a nice experience and even though both of them are quite optional, like they're not really on a must-to-do list while you in Athens. But I must say, you gonna really miss out if you won't do these listed below.

So basically, the first thing I googled in advance and it sounded pretty much like what interesting things you can do in Athens and a  Thision Open air cinema popped out straight away. We googled it again when we were already here and it appears that they show one movie a night, starting from 8 PM or later. There is old cinema being screened as well as the latest releases. Movies are in English, I am pretty sure, cause at least our was, and it's with Greek subtitles. The ticket is like 6 euro. As soon you get in you can get some ice cream, and you can see everywhere you like. There are some chairs with tables as well as without. A little shop is located on the corner where you can get soft drinks, coctails, snacks, popcorn and foods like salats , burger or nachos with cheese. Doesn't it sound perfect?
We watched a black comedy Monsieur Verdoux (1947) starring Charlie Chaplin. As a old classic cinema lover, this experience for me was incredible. I enjoyed every second of the movie, which lasted for two hours, and we had a small 15min break in between.

Another thing, that I really recommend on doing while visiting the city, is going to Vouliagmeni Lake located alongside the Athenian riviera 20min away from Athens. It's like a private like hotel and restaurant kind of thing. To swim in the lake you have to buy ticket which costs like 11-13euro. if you would like just to sit and enjoy the view by sitting at the restaurant, you don't have to buy the entrance ticket. To get to the place, you need to take metro or a tram to station and from there goes the bus which will take you to the final destination.
There is some photos as well from the wild beach, which right on the other side of the street. There are some restaurants as well situated on the seashore, but the beach is empty as the best beach clubs are located a bit closer to Athens and you can reach them by tram or by bus.
