Kyiv, Ukraine

Summer in Ukraine

More than half a year ago I went to Kiev the capital of Ukraine to visit my boyfriend. As it was my first time going to Ukraine, I have nothing to expect and therefore chose to check online some restaurants and interesting places first before actually going there. My boyfriend who was living in Kiev was great of showing all the museums and park and nice places around the city as well.
So as I went there I got to visit all those places and must say, there is indeed good restaurants and pubs and shopping areas just like in every great big city. The food is affordable in some restaurants , especially if it's Ukrainian cuisine, there is of course high-class traditional restaurants too, but the food tastes the same :P So if you are on your travel budget, don't stress out too much, there is a plenty good foodie spots for you to visit. My favorite restaurants are: Kureni the traditional restaurant away from center streets. The great thing is about this place that you can dine while enjoying fresh weather, sound of surrounding trees and leaves, while Dnepro floats through, and the traditional decor of the place does it job and makes you feel like you are in traditional Ukrainian village. My favorite thing there is chicken salad with bacon and egg as well as the vareniki with cherries for dessert. The okroshka with fried bread next to it was great too. Taras Bulba Another traditional place, this time in the center street and is as well a very warm place to be in, whenever I go to Ukraine I always miss this place a bit. The service is superb as they bring you starters for free before you actually order. The menu is great too and it is very cheap. I always order borscht soup there and the honey cake for dessert with coffee. The Life of wonderful people, A trendy place to go in the center. The menu is a bit more expensive and they do serve some interesting European and non-European dishes as well. Khachapuri & Vino The Georgian restaurant that I just love to come back to. My favorite so far the traditional Khinkali dumplings and Adjara Khachapuri. And we get some Senja tea as well. Ostannya Barikada another Ukrainian place. The starters here are very good, I suggest you to try eggplant with nut cream or the baked cheese with warm bread and jam. For me the mains, the burger with pork is quite good as well as the traditional borcht soup or the chicken Kiev.

As for desserts go to the Lviv Croissants place to try some huge croissants and you can also try my favorite champagne tea there.  For the best Napoleon and coffee go to Lviv Homemade Chocolate. You can as well buy there some chocolate to get to your relatives and friends. My favorite there is dark cappuccino chocolate, dark chocolate with coffee beans and dark one with full almonds. Milk Bar a bit more expensive choice, but if you are from Europe, you will be fine with it. Red Velvet and Victoria Secret cakes there are my favorite so far. The Kompot is great for getting your tummy filled as well as for desserts. My all time favorites are the cinnamon , or poppy seed buns. The place itself is charming as it's located on the coast of Dnepro river and you can sit outside or inside near the window as well. Both ways you will  be enjoying the view and the french atmosphere while being inside.
